  • New advice services fund

    A new £16.8 million central government fund to help not-for-profit free advice services in England will be delivered by the Big Fund, Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society, announced today.

    The fund will provide immediate support to debt, welfare benefits, employment and housing advice services. In addition, the Cabinet Office will conduct a review to ensure that people continue to have access to good quality free advice services in their communities.

  • Car Insurance for Volunteer Drivers

    Clarifying car insurance for volunteer drivers

    After months of negotiation between Volunteering England, the Community Transport Association and the Association of British Insurers, over 50 car insurance providers have confirmed that they do not charge extra for volunteer driving. The exceptions and contact details for those insurers which want to be informed of such volunteer driving taking place have been compiled and is available from Volunteering England's Good Practice Bank (half way down the page, in pdf 120KB).
